Analysis of the Critical Reading and Comprehension Skills of Gifted and Normally Developed Students

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the critical reading and comprehension skills of the gifted and normally developed students. The research was carried out with 83 5th grade gifted students who were randomly selected among all science and art centers and 324 normally developed 5th grade students and who are studying in ordinary schools. In the research, “Critical Reading Scale” developed by Ünal (2006) and “Personal Information form” “Reading Comprehension Test” developed by the researcher were used as data collection tools. Data collected at the end of the research was analyzed with SPSS20 Package Program.
