Relationship between Communication Skills and Social Problem Solving Skills of Turkish Education Teacher Candidates

Abstract

From the date humanity existed, individuals resorted to different methods to express themselves. As a natural result of these methods, the concept of communication has emerged. Along with their communication skills, teachers are expected to have skills in problem solving. In this study, we aimed to determine the direction and level of the relationship between communication skills and social problem solving skills of Turkish teacher candidates. In the data collection process of the research, relational survey model, which is a quantitative research model, was used. The sample of the study consists of 407 Turkish teacher candidates who are studying between 2018-2019. In this context, “Communication Skills Scale” and “Social Problem Solving Inventory olan, which have proven validity and reliability, were administered to Turkish teacher candidates. SPSS 23.00 package program was used for data analysis. As a result of the research, communication skills of Turkish teacher candidates were found to be high level and social problem solving skills were found to be medium level. Communication skills and social problem solving skills were found to be positively correlated in some of the demographic variables, but no relationship was found in some of them.
