Abstract

The aim the research is to determine Turkish language pre-servive teacher’ Turkish language teacher specific area proficiency who are studying different universities in Turkey. The sample of the study is the fourth class 244 Turkish pre-service teacher who are studying in Turkish language education departments of various universities in Turkey during the 2011–2012 spring of the education year. Research was conducted with descriptive correlational model type. The specific area proficiency questionnaire developed by the researchers was applied to pre-service teacher. The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS 20 software package. The researcher was utilized frequency, mean, standard deviation, t-test, Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney U test and multiple linear regression analysis in order to examine whether there is statistically significant difference between Turkish language pre-servive teacher’ specific area proficiency with high school graduation, university and gender. According to data obtained from data analysis Turkish language pre-servive teacher’ was seen themselves as adequate in terms of Turkish language teacher specific area proficiency. The researchers was not found any statistically significant relationships between Turkish language pre-servive teacher’ specific area proficiency views with gender, graduation, graduation sections, grade point average, and education type.
