Abstract

This study aims to develop a scale directed to describe eligible perceptions of physical education teachers on physical education and sports course. Data of the research were collected from two different groups of physical education teachers in the provinces of Malatya and Adıyaman. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were applied with various samples within the scope of validity studies. Concerning the reliability studies, Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficients, item-total correlation coefficients and test-retest correlation coefficients were calculated. Following the exploratory factor analysis performed over the data obtained, it was determined that the scale had a 4-factor structure composed of 16 items. The validity of this structure was also confirmed with the goodness of fit values calculated via the confirmatory factor analysis. The Cronbach-Alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was found .91 for the first sub-dimension of “preparation”, and it was .89 for the second sub-dimension of “learning-teaching process”, .90 for the third sub-dimension of “acquisition”, .87 for the fourth sub-dimension of “measurement and evaluation” and it was found as .93 for the whole scale. After the validity and reliability analyzes performed, we can say that the current version of the scale can be used to describe the eligible perception of physical education teachers regarding physical education and sports course
