Abstract


An Exercise Regarding Values Education with An Authentic Learning Approach

A situation structured within the framework of the principles of authentic learning approach in value education can contribute to the appreciation of students. In this study, the contribution of the family to the appraisal is discussed. It is a qualitative study. Gazi University Faculty of Education Class Education Department 1st grade students and their mothers. 45 students participated in the study. In the study, the students asked their mothers to knit a sweater. The students noted the dialogue between them and their later experiences. They came to school wearing their mother's clothes (sweaters, scarfs, hats and gloves) on the designated date. They discussed the class itself, the labor of their mothers, and the issues they felt while wearing. Then, 35 students expressed in writing how they felt and thought when they wore their clothes and after they were finished. Students' writings were examined by content analysis. As a result of the study, it was found that each of the concepts on which emotions and thoughts concentrate are “values er . These values are categorized as love, belonging, labor and responsibility.The students did not accept the clothing knitted by their mother as an ekonomik object of value değil, but as an economic commodity. They stated that they lived in the process as the recognition and acquisition of this value .
