Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop a valid and reliable scale that could be used in determining the efficiency of parents regarding child education. Thus, it is aimed to have a valid and reliable data collection tool for the educational activities to be organized in order to overcome the inadequacies of the parents on the education of the children as the basis for the education of the individuals. The study is a descriptive and quantitative scale development study. Sample group of the study consisted of 668 parents. The data of the study were collected with the "Child Education Efficiency Scale (CEES)”. For the validity analyzes, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, item discrimination and item-total correlation analyzes were performed on the collected data. The ability to make reliable measurements of the scale was analyzed by calculating internal consistency and stability coefficients. At the end of the validity analysis, a scale consisting of 37 items, which was gathered under 5 factors, called "CEES" was developed. The item and factor structure of the scale revealed by this analysis was also tested and verified by confirmatory factor analysis. KMO value of CEES is 0,942; Bartlett test values x2: 8419,017; df: 666; p <0.001. Measures indicate 52.9% of the general variance. All of the discriminative powers and item-total correlations of the items are significant (p<.001). The overall Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of the scale is 0.922. Stability coefficients of the items are also significant at p <, 001 level.
