This study aims to make a detailed examination on the teachers who have a tendency toward a non-educational career by leaving the teaching profession. Phenomenological design which is one of the qualitative research designs has been used in this study. Criterion sampling method has been preferred as a type of sample. The study group consists of 11 high school teachers from different high schools. Interview method has been utilized as a data collection tool, and content analysis method has been used in the data analysis. Based on the research findings, the teachers who aim at a non-educational career have been divided into two groups as the teachers who have a tendency toward a non-educational career though they have chosen the teaching profession willingly and the teachers who have chosen the teaching profession unwillingly but in time aimed at their objectives of career dreamed by them. When the participants’ reasons for tendency toward a non-educational career are considered, it is seen that both inner and external factors are effective. Accordingly, the policymakers can take certain precautions to ensure that the individuals whose personal values are compatible with the professional values prefer the teaching profession as a career and the individuals whose personal values are not compatible with the professional values prefer a non-educational career
