The aim of this study to identify the visual reading skills of the eighth grade students. hence, the research is conducted with the eighth grade students by using emission money. The answer of the students are evaluated according to the criteria of visual reading scale. According to the results of the study, it is revealed that the students partly know about the historical figure and historical place on the visuals. It is observed that the students sometimes have incomprehensibility and contradictions in terms and they have difficulty in matching the historical figures with the period they live. It is determined that the students benefit fromthe evidence in the visuals and are not able to use the reasoning strategy edaquately. It is concluded that the student can get the advantage of using visual in history classes in many aspects.
