Every political party that has been in power since the proclamation of the republic has pursued a policy to completely abolish the educational policy of previous government , it has led the educational system to become a scratch pad, has caused the loss of time, effort and human resources, and has weaken the commitment to the party. The single-party system (1923-1950), the multi-party democracy transition process (1946-1960), military memorandum periods, (1971 March 12) (1997 February 28), and military coup managements (1960 May 27) (1980 September 12) are the political processes that constitute the fundamental paradigms of the educational system in Turkey. The purpose of this research is to examine how the educational policies of political party in power are reflected on Turkish literature textbooks. The “document analysis” technique was used in the research that was designed in accordance with the qualitative research pattern. The history books of Turkish education, the council decisions of MoE (Ministry of Education), the government programmes of the ruling parties since the proclamation of the republic to current time, Turkish Language and Literature programmes in process of change and textbooks were examined, and the related documents were examined in terms of paradigm change. The paradigm shift of political periods reflects on textbooks especially those of social content. In the first decade of the single-party period, texts which carry the Republic goal, reflect the principles and spirit of regime appear to be included in the Turkish Language and Literature textbooks. At the end of the Second World War, The Democratic Party that came into power in a multi-party system in Turkey established the philosophy of education on raising children and youth away from the influences of foreign ideology with “the spirit of national unity and integrity” and “religious values”, and passed these values on to the textbooks.
