The aim of this study is to determine the metaphors of teacher candidates towards the concepts “university” and “academic staff”. This study is a qualitative research. Data were collected via metaphors. The sample of this study is 336 Hacettepe University Educational Faculty 1st class students that were determined by criterion sampling. Participants completed the sentences; “Universities are like … because …” and “Academic Staff are like … because …”. As a result, 14 categories with 133 metaphors about university and 11 categories and 94 metaphors about academic staff were produced. The university metaphors are mostly gathered under Cultural Variety (22.6%) and Universities as Free Places (13.3%) whereas academic staff metaphors are mostly gathered under Academic Staff As a Guiding Person (19.3%) and Required When Needed (26.1%) categories.
