Guidance and psychological counseling services create new terms and methods in education that can be used for contributing to the personal development of students, improving the quality of the current applications at schools, and enriching the roles that teachers have at schools. Thus, by educational institutions aim to educate the new generation of students by the application of guidance and psychological counseling services as responsible and mature individuals who support life in a democratic society. The objective of this study is therefore to measure and analyze the performances of guidance and psychological counseling service programs that train prospective counselors. Data Envelopment Analysis was used which is a performance analysis method based on multiple input and output. The performances of 34 different counseling programs were examined with three input variables (2009 ÖSYM entrance basic score, number of instructors and number of teaching staff other than the instructors) and two output variables (number of students who took 2013 KPSS educational sciences exam and the mean of educational sciences exam). The study results show that 6 counseling programs put forth the exact desired performance. These programs are the guidance and psychological counseling programs at Abant İzzet Baysal, Adıyaman, Atatürk, Erciyes, Pamukkale and Uludağ Universities. Even though their performances were at a level that could be improved, the other 28 programs did not display the exact desired performance. On the other hand, the lowest performance efficiency score was approximately 79%. It can be stated in consideration of these results that all programs have high efficiency performances. It is crucial for programs to increase KPSS educational science mean scores and student numbers at particular rates so that they have high input to show exact performance.
