Teaching the Subject “Sets” with the ‘Dissociation and Re-Association’ (Jigsaw)

Abstract

In recent educational trends establishing learning environments that students can express themselves is in the foreground. The purpose of this study is to teach sets subject by using one of the techniques of cooperative teaching method which is called as ‘jigsaw technique’. For this purpose, sets subjects was taught to nine 6th grade primary students who are attending to a primary school in Kocaeli. Qualitative research techniques were used in the study. In this sense, the data obtained in this study was analyzed, interpreted and reported descriptively. At the end of the study it is seen that: students expressed that they had a better understanding by listening the subjects again and again, they noticed that they needed to study harder and they enjoyed from cooperating with their friends. Several suggestions have been made for future researchers in accordance with these results.
