The main purpose of this research is to prepare a reliable and valid attitude scale to determine teacher candidates’ attitudes towards Special Teaching Methods (STM)-I. The research was conducted with 392 third class students (teacher candidates) studying in different branches of the faculty of education. For the validity of the scale, content validity, face validity and construct validity were examined, while for the reliability, the reliability coefficients were calculated using the methods of cronbach’s alpha and split half. Within the scope of construct validity, first Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) then Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were carried out. The measurement instrument, first consisting of 3 factors and 100 items was reduced to 2 factors and 33 items as a result of the analysis. According to the results of CFA which was conducted to confirm the model, one more item was omitted. The factors in the scale were named as “importance/value” and “interest”. Both factors of “importance/value” and “interest” have 16 items.
