Abstract

The present study tests whether psychological resilience has a significant effect on predicting interpersonal sensitivity and whether interpersonal sensitivity has a significant effect on predicting psychological resilience in university students. For this purpose, the pattern of relations between the variables was examined. The study was conducted on a total of 253 students, 187 female and 66 male, studying at university. Average age of the students who participated in the study was 23.36. In the study, Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure and Brief Resilience Scale were used as data collection instruments. Relational survey method was used in the study and the data were analysed with structural equation modeling. According to the results obtained from the study, a significant and negative association was found between psychological resilience and interpersonal worry and dependency and unassertive behaviour sub-dimensions of interpersonal sensitivity. No significant association was found between lack of social self-confidence, which is another sub-dimension of interpersonal sensitivity and psychological resilience. In addition, it was found in the study that psychological resilience predicted 6% of interpersonal worry and dependency sub-dimension and 4% of unassertive behaviour sub-dimension. It was found that interpersonal worry and dependency sub-dimension predicted 19% of psychological resilience.
