Abstract

The scarcity of the sound path analyses regarding the leisure preferences of pre-service teachers was an inspiration to conduct the current study. The participants of the study were 269 pre-service teachers attending a faculty of education in Kirikkale, Turkey. The data collected through a questionnaire form were analyzed through descriptives and Path analyses. The findings revealed that reading seems to be the most important activity for the respondents though ICT is gaining a precipitous role in leisure time. The models developed support the idea that gender and SES are important factors in understanding the nature of leisure preferences. The Path analyses also revealed that there is a positive relation between SES and the time devoted to ICT, reading, and sports.
